What is R410A refrigerant?

R410A is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant blend used in most modern air conditioning systems, valued for its stability and efficiency in cooling capacity.

R410A is a hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) refrigerant blend commonly found in air conditioning units across Tampines and Singapore. It consists of two components mixed in a precise ratio and operates at higher pressures than older refrigerants, making it suitable for multi-split systems and larger commercial cooling installations where consistent performance is needed.

The refrigerant plays a central role in the cooling cycle by circulating through the compressor, condenser, and evaporator coils to absorb and release heat. R410A became the standard replacement for R22 (chlorofluorocarbon) because it carries zero ozone depletion potential, meeting international environmental regulations that phased out older gases. Its stability at high pressures allows air conditioning units to maintain efficient cooling even in tropical climates, though it requires specialist handling and proper charging by trained technicians.

Unlike R32, a newer hydrofluoroolefin (HFO) alternative with lower global warming potential, R410A remains dominant in existing systems because R32-compatible equipment requires different specifications and components. R22, the predecessor gas, is less efficient, operates at lower pressures, and has been largely prohibited for new installations due to its ozone-damaging properties. When systems need refilling, contractors must use the exact refrigerant type specified by the manufacturer. Finding a qualified provider to handle R410A charging or leaks is important for maintaining system performance. You can locate experienced air conditioning gas refill services in your area.
